We are coming up on the “late” date for the 1st installment of property taxes.  The fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.  The 1st installment of taxes is due on November 1st, late December 10th; the 2nd installment of taxes is due February 1st; late April 10th.

The late date is a postmark date, so make sure you get it to the post office in time!  The penalty is pretty hefty at 10% of your property tax bill.

If you currently have an impound account (where you pay property taxes to your lender along with your mortgage payment), then your taxes will be paid by them on your behalf, but it is always a good idea to confirm.  Check your mortgage statement for a decrease in your escrow balance, as well as your county tax assessor’s online records to confirm payment.
